SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Launch 23 Starlink Satellites
SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched 23 Starlink satellites into orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Monday at 23:20 EST. There are currently over 5,000 small satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), which communicate with designated Starlink ground transceivers.

Elon Musk plans to eventually deploy 12,000 satellites, with a possible later extension to 42,000. SpaceX announced that they have 2 million subscribers as of September 2023, each of whom have paid a one-time hardware fee of $599 for a user terminal and at least $120 per month for internet service at a fixed service address location. Even some cruise ships have Starlink internet, a service called Starlink Maritime. This provides internet access on the open ocean at speeds of up to 350 Mbit/s, but requires the purchase of a maritime-grade $10,000 user terminal and has a $5,000 monthly service fee.
