For $1998 back in October, 1994, you could have purchased a Packard Bell 486DX2/50MHz computer system with 720MB hard drive, 4MB of RAM, 2x CD-ROM drive, 16-bit stereo sound card, Canon Bubble Jet printer, and a 14-inch Super VGA monitor. If you didn’t already know, Best Buy was founded by Richard M. Schulze and Gary Smoliak in 1966 as an audio specialty store. In 1983, it was renamed and rebranded with more emphasis placed on consumer electronics.
