Internet Archive The Calculator Drawer Vintage Calculators
Whether it be the TI-92, Hewlett-Packard HP38g, or even an Electronic Number Muncher by Vtech, the Internet Archive’s new ‘The Calculator Drawer’ lets you digitally use them, thanks to the power of MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator). Not just a static image, all of these graphing and simple calculators have been fully emulated in MAME using an additional layer of presenting the device itself as a clickable graphical object.

That’s right, these work for math equation, graphing, etc., but you can’t forget to press the ‘ON’ button for some of them. Our favorite, the TI-92, which was released in 1995, and the first symbolic calculator made by Texas Instruments. It came loaded with a computer algebra system (CAS) based on Derive, geometry based on Cabri II, and one of the first to offer 3D graphing. This also meant that the calculator was not allowed to be used on most standardized tests. Check them all out here.

The TI-92 was then replaced by the TI-92 Plus, which was essentially a TI-89 with the larger QWERTY keyboard design of the TI-92. Eventually, TI released the Voyage 200, which is a smaller, lighter version of the TI-92 Plus with more Flash ROM. The TI-92 is no longer sold through TI or its dealers, and is very hard to come by in stores,” said Sketch The Cow, Internet Archive Contributor.
