Default HP TouchSmart PC - 10-28-2008, 09:12 AM

What are your opinions on the HP TouchSmart PC? Seems expensive for what it is, at least in my opinion.

Seems a little unpractical and slightly gimmicky. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I would much rather use a mouse to move the cursor rather than touch the screen...at least for a home/office desktop. Its great for small electronics like the iPod Touch or the Blackberry Storm because you really only have to waggle your fingers around to get stuff done. I would imagine my arms getting tired trying to move stuff around, clicking on links, scrolling down pages, etc. Don't get me wrong, touch technology is great but maybe not so much for a home/office desktop. I would find myself using the conventional mouse and keyboard more than actually touching the screen.

I think it could come in handy for something like restaurants when looking through a menu or a music store when browsing through albums and artists.

The TouchSmart IQ506 PC ($1,500 direct) finally updates HP's touch-sensitive all-in-one PC. Its looks are much sleeker than the TouchSmart IQ770, and the iPod Touch-like Touchsmart interface improves an already proven concept. All of the TouchSmart's PC and TV functions are accessible using the system's large 22-inch touch-sensitive screen. If you want a PC with the multimedia functions of your iPod, as well as the touch-sensitive component of an iPod Touch/iPhone, but it needs to be compatible with Windows Vista, check out the TouchSmart IQ506 PC.

Definitely agree with you guys. With the craze of touch technology nowadays, its not that hard to integrate it into any other kind of technology. Laptops, remotes, phones... only thing left would be the kitchen sink.
