Dear parents, students and
tutors,
Listening to music can relax your body. Slow-paced instrumental music can relax your body by helping lower your blood pressure, stress hormones and your heart rate. Nature sounds can also be very relaxing and calming. This is the reason why it is often mixed with relaxation and meditation music. Stress can activate your sympathetic nervous system forcing your body to go into angry or fight mode. During this period your heart beats faster, you begin to breathe quicker and your blood vessels constrict. Deep breathing can help these effects by slowing the heart rate and lowering your blood pressure. The main aim of deep breathing is to make you focus on your breathing and making it slower and deeper. When you are breathing deeply your lungs fully expands and your belly raises which helps in to slow down your heart rate allowing you to become more calm and peaceful.
