Hey all, I'm a newly registered geek here on TechEBlog and mostly I was curious after reading through some of the more humorous content on the home page.
I am an MS developer, SQL, classic ASP, vbscript, javascript and moving onto the .Net realm (finally) within my current employer. Stumbled into the Microsoft world at about 19 when I graduated with a bland associates of applied science degree from community college and my employer at the time thought that since I had a 'knack for these things' I could probably reconfigure their network, set up their email server, design and build their web site and wire their phone systems!
Ha and since I DO have a knack for these things, ever since I've done everything from standard CIS/IT support to database deign/development to web site development/administration.
I'm currently doing browser based db apps and love my employer, not so much the work some days. But it pays the bills.
Microsoft has become my arch enemy since the early days and vow to some day break away from it's clutches and join some other glorious legion of developers not enslaved to the mass conformist monopolist corporate greed machine.
Until then, I must pay the bills and buy my kid the newest pegs for his bikes and helmet, gear so he doesn't break his head while he's out doing all those things only teenagers can do before the fear of pain has been fully installed. I also want a 360 b/c I am a nerd and love Tiger Woods PGA Tour golf and my kid is trying to convince me to play Gears Of War, though he knows I don't like all that boom boom shoot 'em crap...anyway....Microsoft, take me awaaaaaaaaay!
Our home isn't totally inundated with the newest of new of everything....but we have all the stand by stuff, desktops, laptops, cameras, camera phones, iPods, etc.....like most families these days, ours is pretty integrated with technology, but I try to keep it to at least some level of sane, otherwise I'd be plugged in almost all hours of the day....and eventually, all work and no play makes scsmiles99 a very very VERY dull girl!
Nice to meet you all...I look forward to being online more.
