Subaru STI E-RA Concept Tokyo Auto Salon Electric Race Car
Revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022, which runs from January 14-16 at the Makuhari Messe convention center, Subaru’s STI E-RA Concept is an electric supercar that’s not only ready to take on the second-generation Tesla Rodaster, but Germany’s Nurburgring as well. Why? It’s powered by four in-wheel electric motors from Yamaha that generate approximately 1,072 hp combined, paired with a 60-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack and a four-wheel torque vectoring system.

Subaru aims to achieve a Nurburgring lap time of 6:40, which would match the Manthey-Racing-modified 911 GT2 RS, but still lag behind Volkswagen’s electric ID.R that blazed around the circuit in 6:05. Just like the second-generation Tesla Roadster, there is no definitive release date (if ever) for the Subaru STI E-RA, although we imagine the price tag being much higher than Elon Musk’s creation if it did become a limited production model.
