Expects to accelerate the adoption of virtualisation technology in India
In a move to accelerate the adoption of virtualisation technology in India, Microsoft India and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), have entered into a strategic alliance to launch Microsoft- TCS virtualisation Center of Excellence (CoE) in Chennai.
The companies said that the new center is designed to help customers with the right approach to apply and manage virtualisation across IT architectural layers (namely server, machine, application and desktop) in their business environments. The CoE will leverage Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008, to showcase virtualisation scenarios to customers.
Rajan Anandan, managing director of Microsoft India, said: “Though there is adequate knowledge on the benefits of virtualisation - only 5% of the world’s servers are virtualised today.!
“Through our partnership with TCS to launch the virtualisation CoE, we will address this crucial market need and help customers land the benefits of virtualisation technology in accordance with their business requirements.”
The virtualisation CoE would deliver an improved user experience that will help customers demystify Virtualisation: migration from physical to virtual environments, user experience and performance and management of physical and virtual infrastructure from a single console, the companies said.
With a new approach to virtualisation, Microsoft is expected to addresses its customers’ virtualisation requirements, with technologies spanning across the datacenter to the desktop, and from implementation to management (both virtual and physical resources).
PR Krishnan, vice president and global head of TCS infrastructure services, said: “The Microsoft-TCS virtualisation CoE is an initiative aimed at enabling our customers rapidly realise the advantages of this revolutionary technology. Based on robust virtualisation solutions from Microsoft - the CoE will leverage best of breed technologies that are best suited to help our customers stay ahead in today’s competitive market environment.” To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater.
