Suggestions include: Go-Karting, Movies (Narnia, Iron Man, etc.), and maybe going out with friends to try a new restaurant

Default Iron Man!!! - 05-29-2008, 07:44 PM

I just wanted to quickly state that if you like action movies you have to see Iron Man, because the action scenes are awesome! It's a great movie, I wasn't expecting much but it was cool. You should enjoy your birthday, don't be so pesamistic have a nice birthday. All I'm saying is that if you don't go all out on your day, then atleast go see a good movie.

shouldn't the best off topic thread be a tech-related, er, topic? but it's gotta be a topic that us geeks could easily relate to... like how to speak vulcan or something

Default I need an advice - 04-04-2009, 05:22 PM

Hello!
I'm new here. I've been browsing tons of forums for an idea of what to do. I was laid off from my job about 3 month ago. I've been looking for a job since then, but did not even get a single interview. I worked as a web designer for a publishing company for the last 5 years. Looks like forums.techeblog.com is an active forum with active members and may be someone has some experience working as a freelance web designer. May be this category is not the most appropriate for this question, but I want to try anyways to get some opinions before I go ahead with my life. I'm wondering if it is possible in the current economy to find work for a freelance web designer and make enough to pay for rent and groceries. I was able to find a small project on craigslist and I developed a website for a company. It was a small project and took me only a week to complete. I got paid $800 for 1 week of work which is not bad. Please people give me some ideas. I have 2 kids and my wife is out of work as well. Thank you in advance.

Website I developed for

Maybe taking that one computer you had (and we all have) that was slow when you got it and you had to keep the thing for 6 years and by that time it is so horrendously bad it drains brains cells tryin to use it. take it up to your roof and throw it off and/or smash it with a sledge hammer. If you were one lucky people you have not had that kind of computer. I have one sitting in my garage you can have.

Or can try something you've never tried before.

Computers can live with them and cant live without virus protection.

Sad,

Sorry to hear of you being without work, but sadly, this is something that is only going to get worse as this recession is about to become a depression now that 10% unemployment is unavoidable by July given auto industry will add another couple hundred thousand out of work. Freelance work is drying up because so many are in the same position as you are. I wish you success in finding a new position. I have been in my own business for years, and having chosen a recession proof business after going through last recession, I learned a lesson, and now I am surviving, as well as thriving through this disaster.

Success to all,

Default Please - help me with advice - 06-06-2009, 01:45 PM

Hello! My name is Nina.
I'm very sorry for disturbing you. I'd never join your discussion with my silly question, if it was not so serious for me. But you have really nice community here, good and friendly forum, and I'll really be thankful for any your advices.
The problem is what my boyfriend, Mike, ignores me. We live together for couple years and planning to marry. Now he works so hard as a lead manager, company is grown, and last monthes he comes home from his office late evening, kisses me once and very fast, and then goes to his notebook, papers, documents and seats with it until early morning. But I'm only 29, I'm not old yet, people tell me i am attractive, and surely I need some attenion from my husband. I even never dreams about expensive restaurants, luxury life and holidays at tropic islands and all around the world, I just need regular private relationship with him. When I start to kiss him, Mike only asks me not to bother him and returns to his home work.
Please tell how do I need to act in such situation? I'm young pretty girl and I need his care! Am I doing something wrong? Anybody here had similar problems in past? Please, share your experience with me.
