All available downgraders
I (Cabe), The TechEBlog forums, and all websites my links follow to, take no responsibility in the rare event of a brick. You downgrade at your
OWN RISK.
TA-082 USERS - PLEASE READ
If your psp is a TA-082 (
Check here) then i suggest:
1) if below firmware version 2.80, then upgrade to 2.80 and downgrade using the instructions below. The 2.8 downgrader is fully compatible with your PSP.
If your firmware is higher than 2.80 then you will need an UNPATCHED copy of GTA LCS, upgrade to 3.03 and use the 3.03 downgrader instructions below.

Downgrading from 1.51 and 1.52 to 1.5 Files needed: 2.00 EBOOT file Upgrade tutorial 1) You will first need to upgrade your PSP to version 2.00 so that you can use the 2.0 to 1.5 downgrader. To do this, first download the 2.00 eboot file above.
2) Next, upgrade your PSP to version 2.00 using the 2.00 eboot you just downloaded with the
upgrade tutorial. Don't use the PSP's network update feature.
3) After you have upgraded to 2.00, the next step is to downgrade to version 1.50. Use the tutorial below to downgrade.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Downgrading from 2.0 to 1.5 Files needed: MPH Downgrader 1.50 Update Eboot Use this at your own risk. It will only work on a 2.0 PSP 1) You need to unzip the files MPHDowngrader.zip and EBOOT_1.50.zip. Use a program such as WinRAR, 7Zip, or WinZip (check Google). Once they are unzipped, you're ready to begin.
2) Set up a USB connection with your PSP and your computer.
3) Once the connection is set up, open up My Computer and browse to the removable disk that is your PSP. You'll need to set a few things up here.
4) When you first double click to open up the PSP on your computer, you'll be in what's called the root menu. There will be a PSP folder showing if you are in the right place.
5) Copy over to your PSP the following files to THIS location in the root folder...NOT in the PSP folder or any other folder. Index.dat and h.bin should both be in your root directory.
6) Once this is done, open up the PSP folder and then open up the Photo folder. Here, you will copy overflow.tif over, keeping it in the Photo directory and not a sub directory.
7) Now, go back to the PSP directory and go into the Game directory. If there is not already, create a folder called UPDATE. It MUST be called UPDATE and nothing else.
8) Open up the new UPDATE folder and then copy EBOOT.PBP into this folder from your computer. Once all of this is done, you're ready to downgrade. So far, so good.
9) Now, disconnect the USB connection from the computer and plug the AC adapter into the PSP. As with all upgrades, you must have a certain percentage of battery life as well as the AC adapter plugged in, or this will not work.
10) Go to the Photo icon on your PSP and scroll through the pictures to get to overflow.tif. You do NOT have to press anything. It will start automatically. Two strings of letters/numbers will appear. This is normal and good.
11) Wait AT LEAST 30 SECONDS and then turn off your PSP by holding the power button up until it fully shuts down. Then, start your PSP again.
12) You will now go over to the Game icon and scroll down to memory stick. Select it and you should see the 1.5 update.
13) Select it and start it up. Go through it as you've done before with your 2.0 update and follow the prompts. When the update reaches 99% it will crash and show an error. THIS IS OKAY. DO NOT PANIC. Once again press the power switch up until it fully turns off.
14) Now, turn the PSP back on. You will get another error. Just press the "O" button and it will restart after rebuilding the system data. Then just set it up as you did when you first got your PSP and you have a brand new 1.5 PSP. Be responsible with it. Once complete, you may remove the downgrader related files from the memorystick.

Downgrading from 2.5 & 2.6 to 1.5 Files needed: 2.5/2.6 Downdater (Downgrader) Auto Final Password for the download (when you extract) is:I_Use_It_At_My_Own_Risk
1.50 update EBOOT eLoader Install this befor starting the downgrade.
Requirements -
Your PSP is
not a TA-082. If you do have this PSP version, it could result in a brick. [
Find out if you have one!]
Unpatched copy of GTA LCS (Contains the 2.0 update
NOT the 2.6 update.
1.5 User instructions 1) Copy the folders "downhelper" and "downhelper%" from the folder 1.50 HELPER folder to /PSP/GAME/ in your memory stick.
2) Obtain the
1.50 update EBOOT and put it in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE in your memory stick. If the UPDATE folder is not there then create one from your PC.
3) Run the downhelper program found under Game on your psp.
4) It will dump your flash and some files from the updater eboot to the memory stick. (These files are illegal under US copyright laws, so please do not distribute them on our forums)
5) After that, the program will exit. You can now delete the updater from /PSP/GAME/UPDATE.
6) You'll notice that you have a new folder in the root of your memstick called "DOWNDATER"
7) That's the folder you'll have to send to a 2.50/2.60 to let him test the downgrade.
2.5 / 2.6 User instructions 1) Copy the folder DOWNGRADER/2.50/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.50 or DOWNGRADER/2.60/DOWNDATERTEST if you have 2.60 to /PSP/GAME/ in your memory stick.
2) Get someone with 1.50 to pass you a folder called DOWNDATER and copy it to the root of your memory stick.
3) Run GTA and the eLoader
4) Connect your psp to the AC adaptor
5) In the eLoader menu, choose the downdater test. WARNING: the program won't output any display and any warnings, it will init the downgrader process immediately.
6) You'll see the your memory stick flashing. That means that your psp is being flashed from the memory stick.
7) You won't see any type of output in the screen (this is for safety). When the memstick finishes flashing, the psp should reinit and you'll have probably a 1.50.
8) It will probably say you "Cannot read disc". Don't worry about that, this is because the UMD device has not been reset properly. Simply restart the psp manually or take and the battery for 5-10 minutes and the problem will be solved.
9) That's all. If all went right, you'll have 1.50. If it went less good, you'll still have 2.50/2.60. If all went wrong, you'll have a bricked psp (except in the case you have the modchip)
Remember that you have accepted that risk. 10) If your PSP is showing up as v2.01, this is fine. Just use Wab Version Changer and change it to v1.50.
